Thunder Strike and its improvement Unleash synergize amazingly well with dual wield. It is especially useful when surrounded by great number of enemies. I put 1 point in Battle Standard to make use of mastery bonus and damage absorpion. Follow up with picking Dodge Attacks to improve your defense. Onslaught auto attack builds great momentum as you keep fighting and opens Ignore Pain skill which is an essential defensive pick.
I recommend maximizing all dual wield skills as you get higher levels. You can quickly switch to dual thrown weapons to pierce enemies while positioning yourself away from a boss or crowded monster group to chunk some health potions.
